Especially in America and Canada a lot of bacon is used. Just a few years ago, a lot of the production was still done manually.  An enormous amount of people were required for this. Huub watched this process for a while and, by order of leading producers, immediately started working on it. In the following years Sleegers has automated the bacon production process step by step.

A worldwide well known name in the food production

Sleegers Technique first developed the slicing machine. With this machine, pieces of bacon are quickly cut into perfect slices. On to the next challenge: placing the slices on a piece of paper and making a neat stack of them. That sounds very simple. But to get all the slices neatly and tile by tile on those papers, Sleegers has applied completely new techniques. Because of these techniques, the Sleegers underleave machines have become a name worldwide.

The papers or plastic coasters are necessary to make sure that the slices do not stick together. It makes it easier to pick up the bacon per slice. In addition, the piece of paper or foil ensures that the bacon lies neatly in the packaging. The more attractively presented the bacon is, the more trust consumers have in the product. Of course, this applies not only to bacon, but to all fresh products. Meanwhile, these Sleegers machines are also used to cut fish, Vega and cheese into neat slices.

In the next blog I'll tell you how we ensure that you can rely on the right number of slices in each package.
